Corporate Case Study
AV upgrade for historic building in FrankfurtControl the peripherals in the room with just one plug-in: The Automatic Camera Preset Recall Plugin (ACPR) orchestrates ceiling microphones and cameras so that webinars, training sessions and 1:1 meetings become hybrid experiences which mirror in-person interactions.
“We have customers who sit in video conferences for 8 hours a day.
It has to work well, otherwise no one enjoys it.”
The project at a glance
The challenge
Can a room be equipped with AV technology which allows for maximum flexibility without interfering with the architecture of a listed building?
A room that can do virtually anything: Meetings with 40 people, seminars, webinars, training courses – all of which are hybrid, and sometimes distributed over two rooms and with parliamentary seating.
The objective was that the room within this historicalbuilding was to remain untouched and retain its original look.
An AV solution was needed that would blend into the space without any changes to the structure of the building.
An additional challenge was presented by the room acoustics which were negatively affected by fascia columns.
The solution
The space-saving and elegant solution was realised with Sennheiser ceiling microphones and three Q-SYS network cameras. Two cameras are directed into the room to capture the meeting participants, while a third camera exclusively focuses on the speaker to facilitate webinars or training sessions.
Today’s businesses heavily rely on video conferencing. With innovative and interactive solutions like “Automatic Camera Preset Recall Plugin (ACPR)”, we delivered an automated solution where the camera follows the microphone signal – focusing on the active participant, supporting the natural human dialogue, and increasing the groups’ overall engagement.
By strategically placing the ceiling microphones on both sides of the blend columns, dialogues can be conducted across the entire room with perfect audio quality.
Two flexible retractable and extendable screens show the people speaking, even in the back of the room. These can be concealed entirely ì to keep the room looking smart when required.

The result
The result is a space that allows for maximum flexibility and has elegantly solved all the requirements:
The solution respects not only the client’s request for added privacy but also retains the historic architecture. It works with the space rather than against it.
The two Sennheiser ceiling microphones and three strategically-placed Q-SYS network cameras cover the entire room and the flexible screens. The system does not detect faces or other physical tags that could be used to identify the participants, but rather uses the microphone signal to notify the cameras of the speaker’s position. This way, no personal data is collected, and complete control of the meeting remains with you. The solution also reduces the well-known fatigue typical of long, virtual meetings, especially in a larger environment where the active speaker may not be immediately present on the video feed. It increases the efficiency of geographically distributed teams, promotes your employees’ creativity, and ultimately improves the productivity of your company’s meetings.
